Hand-Built Email Templates

I build email templates by hand and test them across inboxes and devices, including Gmail, Apple Mail and Outlook. You get a template that renders properly on a desktop or a phone, set up on your platform for your team to reuse.

What you can expect from hand-built email templates

Designed around your brand

Your logo, colours and fonts, with web-safe fallback fonts for the inboxes that can't load custom ones.

Testing across inboxes

Checks in the main email clients, which all handle code differently. Classic Outlook on Windows uses Word's rendering engine, so it gets particular attention.

Layouts that work on phones

Columns that stack, text that stays readable and buttons big enough to tap.

Dark mode checked

Some apps invert colours, some leave them alone, and a dark logo on a transparent background can vanish. I test for that and adjust the logo and colours where needed.

Readable for everyone

Real text wherever possible, useful alt text and good colour contrast. The email still makes sense when images are blocked or someone uses a screen reader.

Easy for your team to reuse

Templates added to your platform with the editable areas marked, ready for your team to change the words and images and leave the code alone.

How an email template project works

  1. Step 1

    Brief and content

We agree which emails the template needs to cover, which blocks they use and who will edit them. You send your brand files and some example content.

  2. Step 2

    Design

I design the template for desktop and phone, and you see both before any code gets written.

  3. Step 3

    Build and test

I write the HTML by hand, then check it across inboxes, devices and dark mode and fix whatever breaks.

  4. Step 4

    Set up and hand over

I add the template to your platform, send you test emails and show your team how to edit it.

Common questions

It depends on what's involved: how many layouts you need, how many content blocks each has and which platform it's going on. I'll agree a clear scope and price with you before work begins.

Emails breaking in some inboxes?

Send me an example of what you're sending now and tell me which platform you use, and I'll come back with an honest recommendation and a clear quote.
